Aslaug Magnusdottir

About me

Aslaug Magnusdottir is an entrepreneur and investor. She serves as the CEO and Founder of Katla, a direct-to-consumer, sustainable fashion brand. Ms. Magnusdottir has launched several ventures within the fashion and hospitality industries, including Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas in Iceland, luxury e-commerce site Moda Operandi, Tinker Tailor, a customization platform for fashion and TSM Capital, a retail and fashion investment company she co-founded with industry legend Marvin Traub. She also served as a senior executive at Gilt Groupe, where she oversaw merchandising for top customers.


Ms Magnusdottir started her career in fashion as an Investment Director of a UK based family office specializing in buy-outs of large, Northern-European retail chains. Earlier in her career Magnusdottir served as an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Co and as a corporate attorney at Deloitte. A Fulbright Scholar, Magnusdottir holds an MBA from Harvard Business School (the first Icelandic woman to receive an MBA from Harvard Business School), a LL.M from Duke University School of Law and an undergraduate degree in Law from the University of Iceland. Ms Magnusdottir is a contributor at Forbes where she writes about sustainable fashion.
